Our second day in Kashmir took us to Sopore, Baramulla, where we were welcomed with warmth and honor by Shri Ajaz Ahmed Shah, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Sopore, alongside Ab Hameed Reshi, District Agriculture Officer (Input), Baramulla, and the dedicated team from Sopore. Their hospitality set a collaborative tone for a day focused on the transformative power of sustainable agriculture in Kashmir.
π Connecting with Farmers in Arampura Village π
The highlight of the day was an enriching interaction with local farmers from Arampura village, Tehsil Sopore, a community known for its expertise in vegetable and high-density fruit cultivation. Guided by the vision of the Directorate of Agriculture, Kashmir, these farmers are pioneering best practices in modern agriculture that emphasize sustainability, productivity, and market viability.
We discussed various advancements, challenges, and the potential of high-density planting in the region, which promises increased yields and resource efficiency, aligning with the broader goals of the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP). The farmers shared their experiences, techniques, and aspirations for the future, highlighting how initiatives like HADP are reshaping agriculture in Kashmir.
πΏ A Step Forward for Sustainable Agriculture πΏ
Each interaction today reaffirmed the importance of empowering farmers with knowledge and resources to sustain Kashmirβs agricultural heritage. The commitment of these farmers reflects the potential of collaborative efforts supported by the Directorate of Agriculture, Kashmir to build a resilient and flourishing agricultural community.
