Description
Assam Black Orthodox Tea – Taru Export Quality
Taru’s Assam Black Orthodox Tea is a premium whole-leaf tea, handpicked and traditionally processed to preserve its rich, malty flavor and bright coppery liquor. Known for its bold taste, brisk character, and aromatic depth, this export-quality tea offers a smooth yet robust experience—perfect for those who appreciate a refined cup.
Our black tea is sourced from the Elephant Conservation Tea Estate, nestled in the serene foothills of the Bhutan Himalayan ranges in Bodoland, Assam. This remarkable estate, led by Tenzing Bodosa, is a rare example of harmony between agriculture and wildlife. Tenzing has cultivated his estate with green corridors of food tree species for elephants, allowing forest animals to move freely and safely through the plantation.
Since 2007, Tenzing has stood out as the only organic tea cultivator among 12,000 regional farmers, building a globally respected tea brand. His farm shares a buffer zone with the Bhutan forest, where he has planted bamboo to feed and shelter migrating elephants—making his estate a beacon of eco-tourism and sustainable forest livelihoods.
By choosing Taru’s Assam Black Orthodox Tea, you’re not just enjoying world-class flavor—you’re supporting a vision of organic farming, conservation, and rural innovation.
